Goods spec

A buyer-original workbook of product specification rows — not a service proposal and not a construction pack. Orbid’s compiler fills goods-spec cells it can prove.

A goods spec is the spreadsheet the buyer sent when they are buying products, not services. Rows are catalog-shaped: required values, units, options, sometimes regulatory evidence for that SKU. The file is often locked. Orbid’s job is to write proved cells back into that file and leave the rest blank.

What is not a goods spec

A prose RFP Q&A library, a statement of work, an install or construction package, and a hospital e-procurement shopping cart are different jobs. The pack gate refuses those. Loopio-class tools write answers into a content library. Orbid writes cells into the original goods workbook.

Industries

Healthcare equipment is the first live goods-spec industry: GPO, hospital, and VA workbooks. Later slots (industrial RFQ and others) use the same compiler when a real desk exists. The company definition stays write-back, not “a MedTech vendor.”
